Developing Photographers Beyond The Camera

The Pentaprism Method

Many photography programmes focus on cameras.

Some focus on lighting. Others focus on editing.

At Pentaprism Academy, we believe successful photographers need something more.

They need to understand people.

They need to understand the craft.

And perhaps most of all, they need to understand the business.

The Pentaprism Method is built upon three pillars of Craft, Business & Community.

Photography Mentoring

Developing photographers through craft, communication and lessons with real people.

Business Mentoring

Helping photographers build purposeful brands and sustainable creative careers.

Join the Collective

Bringing photographers together through the Pentaprism community and shared learning.

ACADEMY PHILOSOPHY

Why we exist

Many photographers begin their journey by learning the technical aspects of photography.

They learn about cameras, lenses, lighting and editing. They spend countless hours refining their craft, studying tutorials and practising their technique.

Yet when it comes time to work with real clients, many discover that technical skill is only one part of the profession.

Photography is ultimately a people business.

Success depends on communication, trust, confidence, client experience, marketing, branding and the ability to create meaningful connections with the people in front of the camera.

Pentaprism Academy was created to bridge that gap.

Founded by portrait photographer and educator Ejun Low, the Academy combines real-world photography experience with practical business and industry knowledge. Drawing from over two decades of professional experience, Ejun has photographed leaders, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals and families, while also serving as an educator and instructor for leading photographic brands.

Alongside photography training, the Academy places equal emphasis on the skills that sustain a creative career. Through the guidance of Shaan Ng, whose background includes branding, marketing and coaching, photographers gain insight into building a business that is both purposeful and sustainable.

The Academy is also shaped by a broader commitment to the photographic profession. As Vice President of the Professional Photographers Association Singapore, Ejun frequently connect with photographers across different stages of their careers and remains actively involved in strengthening the industry through education, mentorship and community building.

At Pentaprism Academy, the goal is not simply to create better photographers.

It is to develop thoughtful professionals who understand both the craft of photography and the realities of building a meaningful career within it.
