I started photography because I enjoyed making photographs. Eventually, that interest became something I wanted to understand more deeply, and somewhere along the way, it became my profession.
For the last twenty years, much of my work has been about photographing people. I have photographed people from different walks of life, for businesses, publications and sometimes simply for themselves.
Today, that work continues through EJUNLOW®, my portrait practice. Portraiture remains an important part of what I do, and one of the ways I have learnt to understand photography more deeply.

I started teaching portrait photography in 2008. What began as an opportunity to share what I knew soon became an important part of my own photographic practice.
Teaching made me question why things worked, find better ways to explain them and understand the relationships behind the decisions we make as photographers. Learning how to teach photography taught me how to understand it better.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of sharing what I know through workshops, mentorships and collaborations with Canon, Fujifilm and Leica. I am especially proud to have played a small part in the careers of photographers who have since gone on to build practices of their own.

Not every photograph I make needs a purpose. Some begin simply because something made me stop and look. These are photographs of people, places, wildlife and little things from everyday life that I found worth remembering — a small record of a life spent trying to be inspired by the world around me.
THE NEW PENTAPRISMPHOTOGRAPHY GAVE ME
A REASON TO SEE THE WORLD.
Pentaprism has grown alongside my photography for many years. It has been a studio, a place to teach and a space where many of my students have learnt, grown and gone on to pursue photography in their own ways.
After twenty years in professional photography, I still care deeply about making better photographs and understanding the craft behind them. But I have also come to appreciate what photography gives us beyond the photographs themselves.
It has taken me to places I might never have visited, introduced me to people I might never have met and given me memories I might never have thought to preserve.
These experiences have enriched my life in ways that go well beyond my profession. And I believe photography can do the same for others, whether they pursue it seriously or simply enjoy having a camera in their hands.
That is what I want Pentaprism to share.
